What happens if a publisher refuses or cancels a mission?
A refusal or cancellation is not always final. Here is how to respond, step by step.
1. Understand the refusal or cancellation and attempt a negotiation
Before reassigning the mission, take a moment to contact the publisher via the mission messaging system. Go to the mission page and open the conversation thread from the Messages tab.
A refusal or cancellation is sometimes linked to a detail in the brief (sensitive topic not accepted, non-compliant price, incorrect anchor, deadline too short, etc.) that can be adjusted. If the publisher agrees to reconsider their decision, the mission can be relaunched with the same media by adjusting the problematic elements.
2. Check the suggested alternative media
If the refusal or cancellation is confirmed, you will receive a notification email. This email includes a list of alternative sites automatically selected based on the profile of the original site: comparable topic, language, DR and traffic level.
This is the fastest starting point to get your campaign back on track. Click directly on a suggested site to access its profile and place a new order if it meets your needs.

3. Search for a replacement site in the catalogue
If none of the suggested sites are a match, go to the catalogue and refine your search manually. Make sure to check the editorial conditions of the site before ordering, especially if your topic is subject to restrictions. See: Find relevant offers for sensitive or niche topics in the catalogue.
Once you have identified your new site, place the order from your Orders dashboard or directly from the site profile in the catalogue. Publication timelines restart from zero from the date the new publisher accepts the mission.
💡Tip: the My Dom. column lets you identify at a glance the sites you have already worked with and avoid duplicates. See: How do I know which sites I have already ordered from?
Credit recovery following a refusal or cancellation
As soon as the refusal or cancellation is confirmed, the mission amount is automatically credited back to your Getfluence account. No action is required on your side. The credit is immediately available to place your new order.
