Google News and Google indexing are two separate things. Being referenced in Google News has no impact on whether your sponsored article is indexed on Google, and the reverse is also true.

What is Google indexing?

A page is indexed when Google has crawled it and added it to its index. Only indexed pages can appear in Google Search results and pass SEO value through their links.

For a netlinking campaign, indexing is the criterion that matters: an article that is not indexed has no SEO impact.

What is Google News?

Google News is a Google service that aggregates news content. Since April 2024, sites and articles can no longer be submitted to Google News: inclusion is 100% algorithmic and decided by Google.

When a site is added to the marketplace, Getfluence checks whether it is present in Google News. You can see this information on the media sheet and in the catalog column.

• It is not a selection criterion: the catalog also includes sites that are not in Google News.
• It does not guarantee that every future article from the site will appear in Google News. Publishers can maximize the probability by complying with Google's eligibility rules, but the final decision belongs to Google's algorithm.

How does Getfluence check indexing?

During the control period, Getfluence verifies that every published article is indexed on Google. If it is not, the publisher is asked to fix the issue. The mission can be canceled if the article remains unindexed.
